2nd Letter from Dave

Isn't it a small world ? , reading through your notice board I find that I live in the same town ( Warrington ) as one of your contributors, Rob Patheyjohns, I'll have to get in touch with him.

My previous bike is a Honda CB 360, I bought it secondhand in 1977 and over the past 22 years it has given me no trouble at all. As you can see from the following photographs I have altered its appearance considerably! It has a cx 500 petrol tank, a laverda seat unit, an exhaust system off a Suzuki GS 500, a belly pan from a Kawasaki 500 and an end can off a ducati 916!

Last year I fancied another bike so I set about finding a cheap complete bike to restore. The CBX appealed to me because it's a middle weight and it has a lot of "unusual" features.
When I first saw the Honda it was in the corner of a large warehouse full of bikes and it looked in a sorry state. I walked away at first but somehow it started to get under my skin (how can a lump of inanimate steel and plastic do that) so the following day I returned and asked "how much?". 360 was the lowest he would take, I agreed provided I could hear the engine run.
Now I've no knowledge of CBX's but like all old Hondas I expected it to have a rattly cam chain but when the engine fired up it ran whisper quiet!.
The dealer delivered it to my home the following day and unceremoniously dumped it against my front gate. My wife looked at it and then at me as if to say you paid good money for that!!, undeterred I set about stripping it down.
As I said to you before I' m not building a show winner but something that will put a smile on my face whenever I ride it.
I'm running short of time now so I'll give you a run down of how the rebuild went at a later date if you would like it.

I'm a big fan of world superbikes and this weekend their at Donnington park which is less than 50 miles from where I live, so I'll be there cheering "foggy " on although I'm fast becoming a fan of Nori Haga.
